About how much should it cost to update a home heating sysyem, and electrical systems??

I have house built in 1940's it still have the old fuse based electical system, and a very old ineffienct heating system, i would like to update these systems, but can't afford to pay an arm and a leg to update systems. Any ideas on which system should be updated first, and about how much to update. The house is in Virginian, town called Danville.

Answers:
We just paid $3900 for a new furnace big enough for a 2500 sq. ft. home. I think it costs about $1000 to update electrical to circuit breakers but that could depend on labor costs in your area. If you do upgrade to breakers you might want to update the amps as well.

Call some contracters in your area for quotes. Most are willing to do this for free.

Other answers:
you would need to update the elect first because the new system would not work if you didn't. price is dependent on who you hire to do the work.
