You might want to try putting a towel or cloth undernieth where it drips and tape it down or secure it somehow. You may still hear the noise but it could be softened.
Put some sponge on it, that way you can not only be noise-free, but it keeps all the water and then you can throw it out. Besides sponges, I suggest towels, blanket, cardboard. Go to home depot and ask them what materials you can buy for cheap.
You could possibly just put a towel or pillow like item on top to catch it. You may have to secure it somehow so it doesn't blow away but it should work. A large sponge of some sort may help.
lol, I know exactly what you are talking about I have the same problem, that little ping ping ping drives you crazy at night time. I haven't done it but I have thought of putting a cup filled with rocks underneath the drip. But if yours is to high off the ground I don't know what you could do.
How about attaching a plastic cutting board above it at an angle so that the water is deflected away quietly
Tape a potted plant to your AC. You stop the "plink" and you get to enjoy a plant without the hassle of watering it.
Find some shag carpet and cut a mat to place on your unit. Be careful not to cover any vent holes.
