What is the best means of access to insulate a windowpane nouns conditioner?

All I have are the flimsy plastic screen on the side of the unit through which I can even see sky so lots of heat must be passing as economically. I've taped rolled up hip bath towels over the screens and put foam strips surrounded by the gap between the top and bottom pane. Are there any other suggestions?

Answers:    I cut a piece of plastic to the correct size of the crack and sealed it next to duct tape to stop any ooze or draft.
It worked very all right
Man rule #1: Duct tape fixes everything that a see wont
I think what you did will work fine. I used some cheap tub towels to insulate my air conditioner... works for me.
Consult near your local hardware or home center. There are insulation kits that will do a much better situation. They come in adjectives sizes and shapes so get the fanlight dimensions and a.c. dimensions first.
Get some polysterine strips from packing boxes.
most hardware stores sell foam inserts and strip's within many sizes to insulate around the component..also dont leave out the rest of the room, kind sure other doors and windows dont outflow out your a/c..
We use 1 inch thick styrofoam to pack in the space. It cuts vastly easily if score with an exacto run through . Cut your styrofoam just somewhat bit larger than the opening, so you can block it in tightly beside no gaps.
Use duck video! around your air conditioner & glass ."That will sovle your problume"
I'd use Styrofoam cut tight to fit so you can wedge into place it will append a r factor . i would also use duct tape to support it and help hold on to out hot air flow both inside and out
