how to add a 134a service port to refrigerator compressor?
Answers:
You can add a service port simply by installing a saddle type shcrader valve. Most appliance parts stores have them. Just be carefule during the installation and make sure you install it on the suction (low pressure) side on the system.
Other answers:
I would not use a saddle valve for anything other than a short-term install to access the system for diagnosis or service. They are very prone to leaking & because modern refrigerators use so little refrigerant, they will cause trouble.
There should be a short stub coming out the side of the compressor that the factory used for charging purposes. You can purchase a copper stub with a Schraeder type valve to solder onto this for service.
