Is it nessacery to hold a starter course for cedar shingle siding at the point where on earth a roof starts?
Answers: You roof should hold been installed on the porch right up to the gable end(siding) & next a piece of flashing will fit behind the siding & after roofing over the top of the flashing for cosmetics. The siding will be nailed next to it extending over the flashing. Do not nail thru the flashing. Leave a minimum of 3/4 inch clearance between the porch roof & the bottom run of siding to prevent rot & wicking of moisture.
Good luck.
Yes, the starter course is the partner of the first course as the first course is spaced apart and there will be spaces that you will see the black broadsheet or whatever you hold as the background insulation/moisture protection on the building. You want to salt away that as well, don't you?
yes. Read your installation directions.
