Unless its a fairly old oven it does not have a pilot light. Instead it propably uses an igniter device. These will glow when oven is turned on but that does not mean there working.They have to draw at least 3amps before they will switch on the gas valve. Call for Service.

look in the bottom of the oven at the back and you will see the pilot assembly,hold a lit match there and push in the oven knob,it should light then.

first check its not a self ignitor, they usually have a battery fitted either in the base or behind the back, if you cannot find one ,then check to see if the its a piezo switch turn your knob to the pilot setting and either press a small button by the side of the knob or press the knob itself,failing that turn on the gas to the lowest setting
and apply a taper (lit) to the gas jet ,i light the taper first before turning on the gas, if you dont you run the risk of igniting your eyebrows if youre not quicl enough personally i would get the cooker checked out regards LF
If you're sure you have a standing pilot to be lit, then yes, get either a fireplace match or one of the butane grill lighters and hold it near the pilot assy, in the rear of the broiler area. You shouldn't have to do anything to the oven control to get the pilot to light. If there's a cage like apparatus back there though, you most likely have a glo igniter type system. If that's the case and it doesn't glo when you try to turn on the oven, then it's probably cracked and needs to be replaced. They range in price from $28 - $85, depending on your make and model.
Turn the gas on and leave it on for an hour or so then go out it the back yard and light a cigerette. That's all, folks!
