When an electric stove burner gets red hot, how hot is it? How hot will the drip pan below it get? 1200F?

Plan to use High Heat Rust-oleum on my electric stove drip pans, it resists heat up to 1200F. Will it burn off? Can I clean it?

Answers:
Everything that glows the same color under the same lighting conditions is at the same temperature. A red glow (like a stove element in a well-lighted kitchen) is about 1250F, give or take 50F. But unless your drip pans get so hot they glow too, their temp is prob. well below 1000F.

If it were me, I'd get replacement pans, preferably stainless steel. Not too expensive, and beats the mess and potential problems with spray paint (can't imagine paint that resists 1200F is too cheap).

depends on the model of your electic stove burner. try looking in the manual for it.

I don't think spray paint is a good idea at all, even if it is designed to withstand the heat. It won't hold up to scrubbing, hot foodstuffs will ruin the finish, and the "nice appearance" you get initailly won't last more than a few weeks, then you're left with half-painted, ugly drip pans.
