structurability differences between wooden and fiberglass porch columns.?
Answers:
I don't have a clue what "structurability" is but I will say that over the long haul, fiberglass columns are a better choice. They are more than adequate to support a roof or other structure. They are also insect, moisture and rot proof. Keep them painted and they will outlast a wooden column by quite a bit.
Because they are non pourous they hold paint better than a wood column. Wood columns are hollow and moisture can be inside can cause the paint to fail.
We have six of them holding up our front porch. No problems in ten years. We have a wooden brick mold on the back door of our house. It lasted 8 years before the bottom rotted out.
