A Water Heater Energy Question?
Answers:
Why do you need the water temp any higher than 110 degrees? That is plenty hot enough for showering and washing dishes, if you do them by hand, and you don't need extremely hot water for your washer with all the good detergents that are around. The plus is that if you have children this will prevent scalding if a child should accidently turn on the wrong ftap while bathing. Same goes for senior citizens. Turned mine down years ago and reduced my electric bill a goodly amount. I assume you have a thermal blanket around the heater.

I assume you already have your heater insulated.
If you live somewhere sunny, you might also look into a solar hot-water preheater.
To save engry turn the thermostatic down on the heater in the summer . Also how old is the heater ? I only ask because you might have a burned out element or calcium on your element . This will waste alot of juice .
change your elements turn down your h20 heater to 120 F yes install a timer and check your filter on your a/c and dry your clothes in the shortest time all 220v unit cost money
how high do you have your thermostat on your water heater you should not need it any higher than 140 degrees also a timed might help you some but if you set it to off and don't have it turned on for a few hours you will burn more energy heating it up again if you have a manual check it out
