How do I fix an electric weed eater that's not cutting the weeds?
Answers:
You probably need new "string" (what you are calling the wire cords--it does the cutting). But if your weed eater is old, you are better off replacing it. After 5 or 6 years, they seem not to cut very well, and they are not expensive if you look for a sale.
Other answers:
get a new wire thing
get a new wire thing
check the switch first. it may have gone bad. if that isn't the problem then the motor may have burned up.
Be more specific with your question and someone may be able to help.
Take it to a repair shop that specializes in lawn equipment. Ask them to locate the problem and give an estimate as to the cost of repairing it. If it costs more to repair it then to buy a new one, buy a new one.
Did you tap it on the ground to extend more of the plastic string stuff? Or are you out of plastic string?
Year , probably get a new wire or fishing line or whatever. Thats probably it. Ask a few questions of knowledgable people who are around the weed eater section of the store.
Go to the store and buy a new coil of wire (or plastic) and then take the end of the weed eater off and stick the new coil on there and put the end back on. That should do it!
Look on the bottom, see a protusion, tap that on the ground a couple of times, and pull the plastic cutter string, if no string is visable, look on the side of that Housing- you will see a couple of Recess, squeeze the the Recess, on each side and lift off the cover, careful not to loose the Spring, now feed out some more Cutting string, if its just broke off, if there is no String, buy some- they make a Refill the fits right in there, or Wind some bulk string around, and round until it fill the spool, Careful feed out a tail, then put the cover back on. Make sure it clips in at those Recess.
