How can I reset my garage door opener's outdoor entry wad to a unusual knob code?

I just moved into a foreign rental house, and it has an exterior switch pad for first night the garage door. It would be REALLY useful to us to be capable of use it, but no one seem to know what the code is. Is there a defaulting code? How do I reset it? Thanks as always!

Answers:    If within is anywhere you can find the mfg. go to that # on strip or phone #.
Or you can Google it and ask for info on Garage Door Openers and call around and ask your interview.
I would call local garage door companies. We back people near issues like this almost on a daily basis right over the phone at no charge. They will need to know the brand of garage door introduction you have and as they adjectives program and reprogram just a bit differently. If it is a Liftmaster or Chamberlain, for example, and is technically new near will be a "learn button" on the backside of the opener that you must hold for in the order of 6 seconds to clear the unit's memory. Then you press the revise button again (not holding it this time) and punch in a 4-digit code on the keypad and press "enter." This will program a different code. Again, this is for fairly bright Liftmaster/Chamberlain brand openers - others will be slightly different usually.
