How to hurricane lantern the pilot lantern on a gas fired fireplase?
Answers: Just move the gas valve knob to pilot
pulp down and light it
hold holding down till it stays lit
once it stays lit move the knob to ON
then turn the thermostat up or it lately may come on
if their is no thermostat
NOW if it does not STAY lit it is because the pilot ODS system has a bug surrounded by it literally ,a bug will make a cobweb inside the ODS chamber and this will mimic loss of oxygen contained by the room. ODS stands for Oxygen Depletion System. It is designed to lower the output flame of the pilot when oxygen gets low within the room, causing the sanctuary magnet to shut down the fire before asphyxiation occur hopefully. Blow out the pilot chamber located behind the pilot burner if this is the grip use shop air, or alcohol, or rust buster. Good behind the times rust buster is non flamable and has a telescoping spout to manage the pilot and squirt a little into the total pilot light literally flushing away any obstruction that would cause the ODS to shut down prematurely ....Cobfused however? get it? ha ha
remove the cup front, turn on the gas valve, find the gas control knob and put it on pilot, press the gas control knob surrounded by and push the igniter unitl pilot lights and keep it held contained by for about 15 second and then release . later put the gas control knob on on. then you should be capable of work it .
Usually there is a card attached below the unit to explain this
