How hard is it to sharpen my own lawn mower blade?

Or should I just take it to a lawn care business?

Answers:
I personally would take it in. You'll get a sharper edge. Of course me personally when my blades get dull I usually don't bother to sharpen them, as cheap as you can find them at different places like Home Depot and things like that I usually just replaced it. Course that was three or four years ago. I haven't had a lawn since then.

Not very hard at all. You get what is called a steel , or a large file, and run it at a 45degree angle to the blade until the blade is sharpened. Do it both sides. It's not hard to do - I do that and I'm a woman! You know, helpless, hapless and hopeless most of the time when it comes to DIY!

Not too hard...provided you make sure the motor isn't running. If it is, it can be extremely difficult!
Depends- Do You Think You Will Be Good At It.
I use a grinding wheel usually the blade already is angled so just hold it to the wheel. the blade must be balanced orthe mower engine will vibrate So to do that take a pencil put the blade through the center attaching bolt hole the blade should hold a vertical position.you can do it
It not hard to "sharpen" your lawn mower. But of course, you can't do a job as good as the professional, if this is your first time. It takes practice and patience.
The quick way is turn your mower upside down to expose the blades. With wood and/or vice-grips, make the blade steady and not movable. Using a steel file, try to sharpen the edges following the angle it has.

It would be nice if you could unscrew the blade and sharpen the edges clamp in a vice.
