the system works everyday except today. what am i doing wrong?

"Everyday except today", does that mean Tuesday of every week? If so then reprogram. Try changing todays schedual to tomorrow because maybe it's waiting to start or thinks it has gone past its start time today.
If it means it stopped working today then check the fuse, the tiny glass tube, for a hair of broken wire. If it isn't continuous then read the size on the end and replace it. Sometimes there is a spare fuse inside the cover.
