Plunging won't help
buy or rent an auger
place a blind strainer on the shower drain to help collect the spike and make disposal easier.
Check outside of the count for a "clean out" or drain gap which might make your career easier.
ALSO don't forget to check the vent stack for the addition.
Birds nests and jetsam can enter and cause similar problems.
The individual things I know about plumbing are the 3 rules of plumbing:
1-ALWAYS wash/clean beneath your fingernails.
2-Sh*t travels downhill
3-Pay day is on Friday.
Your toliet and shower usually share indistinguishable drain. The shower drain gets closely of hair going down it which make for some big clogs. I use a drain cleaner once a month on the shower drain to keep everything draining.
Sounds approaching the vent might be partially or totally plugged. Try running a snake down from the roof.

It could be the crucial drain, the one on the roof, is getting clogged.
the drain didn't work well on my shower for a incredibly long time until my brother came over and accustomed the chain connected to the lever that stops up the drain that you hoist up when you want to take a hip bath. When the stopper that is mounted lower than the faucet of the shower is not properly adjusted, the vent doesn't achieve enough nouns flow for proper drainage. Sounds like the toilet is getting more nouns flow from the drain in your shower than the vent pipe going to the top of the house. MAYBE?!?!!? It's a place to start anyways
I would try using muraddic tart. just don't inhale this. it will lug your breathe. let it set for in the order of an hour and then flush it out. pay attention and don't spill it on anything other down than the drain. use a good plastic funnel. you can take this product add most lumber yard.
By the sounds of it they have used to smaller waiste pipe from toilet.
it a vent problem... i see if you can snake the vent from your roof if not i sugest you see a plumber.
there are purely some problem that needs a professional
sounds to me approaching perhaps within was no vent run for this bathroom combination. You may be too far away from the main stack you tied into to own an effective vent. Without a vent you will hold the problems you are describing
I would start with answering one cross-examine. Has it before worked economically? If so, it is unlikely a pipe pitch problem (GOOD!) Than the next question is. Do you have small children? Mine have tendencies to put things within toilet that did not belong there. Small objects can rationale big problems. The drain for the toilet and for the shower are connected so it sounds like you enjoy a blockage. If you have a snake, use it and hope you can dislodge anything is there and it will drop into you vertical drain pipe. Good Luck!
