What kind of cleaning solution can i use to get creosote off of my vinyl siding?
Answers:
Creosote is more like tar than grease. It takes heat for creosote to become viscous like grease. When it gets like that it can burn like jet fuel and has the same flash point near that of paper. Back to your question though - when cleaning creosote in chimnneys we use acid which breaks apart its molecular structure and then render it inert with a neutralizer before brushing it off. Obviously this will damage your siding, so I recommend brushing it with a solution comprised of 50% vinegar and 50% Mr. clean(cleaning solution).
Let sit for an hour and then powerwash - repeat if necessary.
If you troubleshoot the chimney, you may be able to reduce or eliminate the condensation of creosote in and around your chimney which will lead to a fire and possible loss of property or life.

Creosote is a grease. A mild biodegradable degreaser should work. Invest in a powerwasher and hit the house twice a year. Also, there are treatments that prevent the siding from collecting dirt and grime that can be used in the powerwasher....
I bet Fuller Brush's "Sticky Stuff Remover" would take it off.
