The water in the toilet bowl doesn't go all the way down when we flush. Just replaced all the insides.?

Just replaced inner workings with FluidMaster but water in bowl still won't flush all contents. Have to flush twice sometimes. Any ideas as to why this is happening? There are 2 toilets in the house and it happens to both of them. Thanks

I'll venture a guess that the mechanism is plastic.

It may be the type that has an adjusment collar at the bottom, pretty much like a screw type thread that allows changing the height of the water in the tank. I just installed one.

It also has a "floa attached to it that aids in controling the height of the water. The level at the exit pipe certainly should stop within and inch of running over.

Anyway if this is what you installed you will likely have to remove it,,,no big deal really, check the adjustment level measurement, IE: it can begin at 8" and go to 11"

I had installed it at the preset level and it would not allow enough water to fill the tank. After removing and checking, I twisted the collar until it said 10 inches, then re-installed...(see below, a caution)

In taking it out and re-installing I did find out one thing however. When tightening the nut under the tank, it's possible to change the height measurement just in the process of threading the nut. It may mean that one has to hold the inlet tube at its base, (NOT TOP) while another tightens the nut under the tank (NOT TOO TIGHT) If you can't accomplish this correctly the effect is that when you tighten the nut the threaded collar retracts back down to a level that will not allow enough water to enter the tank.

Certainly check the flapper,,,if in fact there is one, some models don't have that. The chain or whatever attaches to the flapper should be tight enough to pull the flapper up high enough to allow air to enter its hollow core, allowing a natural dropping back onto its seat. But should be loose enough to actually allow the flapper to do that seating completely on the drain hole.

the chain to the black flap has to be adjusted where the flap will open fully.if that doesn't work.did you replace the flap.they can go bad.the flap is the entrance from the tank to the bowl itself

Has the bathroom been re-arranged recently? If the toilet is in a different part of the bathroom it could be that there is not enough run (slope) on the outgoing pipe. If this is the problem, you may have to raise the toilet by putting a thick piece of wood under it - this may involve locating the cistern a bit higher on the wall.
