First of all if the person who answered first could do it for $2400 and do it right then wowee what a deal. You'd need to know what tonnage you need, and if you need ductwork or not, breakers/wiring or not, which refrigerant you'd want R-22 or R-410A, do you already have a 200 amp service in your house, all these things. We have been in this business for over 30 years and the equipment for a 3 ton system (outdoor unit, indoor unit including back up strip heat, and thermostat) is going to cost me close to what this other guy is saying he could install it for. I would say you are looking at somewhere between $5000-$7000 depending on a lot of factors, if you are doing a changeout, you'll get out cheaper.
