Our fairly new above ground pool has turned green. What should we do to turn it clear again?
Answers:
It sounds like you have algae in it. You need to buy a special type of chlorine and do what is calling "shocking" the pool. Call a pool supply place and they can advise you of the specific type of chlorine you need. Be sure you know how many gallons are in your pool as this will determine how much you have to use.

Pour a lot of bleach into the pool.
After a day or two, the bleach smell should evaporate.
Shock it with liquid chlorine it should clear it right up
Put some chlorine and shock in it to clean it or vacuum the bottom.
Clean it? Ewwww.
Buy pool shock at your local Walmart.
My pool did that this year, depending on how big your pool is add shock and it will turn clear again.

I would want to know the same thing?
STOP PEEING IN IT AND USE CHLORINE.
Shock It...it'll clear up...
take a sample of your water to a pool place and let them run a test on it..it's usually free..they can tell you what it needs and how to put it in.
Shock it , followed by some "Clarifier", and after that vac up what settles on the bottom.
Do what these people said, add chlorine. But better yet, put ads out for 1 week free pool for college Babes, given that they clean the pool your self. Guys can watch and you can sell sodas or hot dogs on the side.
USE YOUR TEST KIT! You have to test and adjust according to what the test kit says. Do this at least twice a week-- or more. Once you get the total alkalinity, pH and chlorine levels straightened out the rest falls into place. If you aren't comfortable with the test kit then take a water sample to a pool store and ask for help. They will be happy to show you how to use the test kit. Only thing you must tell them is how many gallons in the pool.
