What can I do if I suspect water is leaking into my parquet flooring?

My parquet flooring at home is getting discoloured and a friend thought it could be water leaking from somewhere and seeping into the flooring. But when I touch the floor it feels dry. Is there someone I can call to check if it's really water or something else causing the discoloration.

Turn all your faucets off and then go check your water meter. If the meter is moving, with all water appliances off, you have a leak. That simple.

Notify your insurance company and they will send an adjuster. Home repair/flooring specialists will have a meter which will measure the moisture in the flooring to detect if in fact it is leaking water.

Look around the room, is a plant the culprit? Is there a naughty pet?..Could it be that the flooring finish is just failing?..

call the plumber and get them out asap it may cost a little but in the long run it may save you heaps.
