Is there a difference between chlorine for Spas and pools?

Answers:
Chlorine comes in many different forms...

Either gas, (mostly for injection purposes for either water or sewage plants, mixed with water)...

Solids...(as in pool tablets, mixed with other ineert materials and forms the chlorine when water is mixed with it, soluable form)...

Liquid (chlorox is onl .4% chlorine, not very strong as industrial types, but strong enough to burn you and cause eye irritations as well as disinfection...

Hydrocloric Acid when mixed with water becomes chlorine when you add a current to it..(some pool companies use this instead of chlorine)

So, no matter what form it comes in, its the 'strenght' that is the factor. You dont want it to "burn your skin" or get too overpowering... All you need it to do is disinfect your water.

My self, I would get a pool tablet and put it in for a few hours, and take a Pool Testing Kit and check for a cl2 residual.

A residual of .5mgl or better is good, because it has been satisfied of all the bacteria being killed and you have a residual. If you DO get a high cl2, or chlorine residual, like 2.5mg/l, you do not have to be alarmed about that...(My City has THAT MUCH in our City Water System, as a residual!! Doesnt hurt anyone to drink it...

But, remember this, 2.0mg/l will KILL FISH!!

So, go figure, eh? :)

I wish you well..

use bromine in a spa. When heated, chlorine gives off a gas that isn't good for you to breath. Bromine does not give off the gas when hot.
No, the chlorine is the same. But bromine is the better sanitizer for spas. It is much less temperature sensitive than chlorine.
