Any ideas on how to get rid of ants in the house?

Terminix has come over twice and it has not helped. They are coming in around the kitchen sink.

We had the same thing. What I did was bought a bag of lawn treatment for grubs (the package also said it kills ants). I put it in my spreader (the kind that drops straight down, not a broadcast spreader). and laid down a heavy layer around the entire foundation of the house.

I did that 3 weeks ago and, so far, our house has been ant free!

Good luck.

Get an anteater. They might poop a bit but better than ants!
an anteater.
They want the water, especially as it gets warmer. I've had great luck with ant stakes, leaving them in the path that the ants take. If you keep the sink dry and the ant stakes fresh, you should see them diminish to a few stragglers in two or three days.
Lemon juice and bleach. Also try Combat at Walmart in the bug isle. Works every time.
AARDVARK?????
you can draw a chalk line if you know where they are coming from...for some reason they won't cross the line. Also if you go to home depot or lowes they have this gel that kills them it has worked perfectly for us...not ants in a year!
well i live in the middle of nowere so what we do is set up ant bate inside and use bug spray in and out and use something on the mounds as well
i have tried the chock line before it doesent work!1
Go to Wal-Mart and there is this thing called Terro ant killer it's in an orange box and it works AWESOME! they swarm to that spot where you put the Terro at but they will eat it and DIE!! LOL yep it works good!
buy raid ant spray and spray around the sink...then set up a shallow bowl w/sugar water in it...they will go there but can't get out...just empty the bowl
put poison down outside the house to kill them there and also buy these things that ants walk into, and then they die as they get stuck they help,
If u have some money take the sink out and get some filler and fill in the cracks that they are coming through that should stop them
Have your uncles make them leave!

Haha! Thank you, thank you, I just flew in from Chicago and boy are my arms tired!
Just keep the place clean and don't go to bed with dirty dishes. Always wipe that area with a strong detergent. I think its the hot weather though.
Just spread some turmeric powder around their hole, or if no ant hole is visible near in the kitchen, spread the turmeric powder on the line of their way towards the sink. The ants will immediately run for shelter to save themselves.
Buy ant poison or insect poison (comes in the form of a powder) from any home or garden store and sprinkle it all over the outside perimeters of your house. I had a problem where somehow ants were coming in thru the outlet right next to the sink area and how I dont know because I live in a duplex and the sink is not on the outer section of my house its, obviously connected on the inner side to the other apartment. But anyway, I went around my whole place and sprinkled the powder around my house and I put it under my sink against the wall and they stopped coming in. If u have pets, make sure not to pour it anywhere near their areas. It works to keep all insects away I have found and there a lot where I live because I live in Arizona where its all desert.
They are thirsty!

We also have this problem! My Hubby is constantly spraying the outside of the kitchen window, but those little varmints always find a different route. I am constantly wiping down my counters and policing the kitchen to make sure that no one has left out food particles to invite a full scale invasion. So far it is just 1 -4 ants. I can live with just a couple of ants, they are in the older bathroom also!! Just makes me crazy!
Use Raid ant and roach killer. I had this problem before and someone advised me to use roach spray and they went away. It helps though when you follow the ants to see the source of their entrance into your house. The ants in my house were attracted to a dead bug in a crevice in the wall. I guess they were eating him. Yuch! I hope this helps
Here is a cheapo fix and it works well I have used it for years.
Purchase some 20 mule team Borax laundry soap, go to the dollar store and buy a cheapo ketchup squeeze bottle and put the dry laundry soap in the bottle and apply along base boards, kitchen cabinet bases and under the kitchen sink around the drain pipes anywhere you see the ants. Leave the Borax lay a few days until you no longer see any traces of the ants, they will carry it back to their nest and it will kill them, Just vacuum up the remaining Borax and use the rest of the box to do your laundry, this is about a five dollar fix....Seems like alot of the pro exterminators are having problems with not being able to get rid of the ants, someone said they have changed the chemicals they use or something. Some aren't even offering guarantees against ants, hummmm why don't most of them tell you that???
Too bad they done away with Chloridane, that stuff worked on everything! Good Luck, I'am sure this trick will work for you.
