What do we put in flowers in a vase so they last longer?

Its like something white i think. It's powder-y?

Answers:
I am not sure what the florist uses when they send it to you in the little packages but when I was 15 I worked as a florist assistant and we used asprin and 7up.. one crushed asprin and a tsp of 7up

its called aspirin
You can put 7up in the water, or some sugar. It will prolong the life of your flowers.
water and maybe asprin for starters...the floral companies will also sell you something should you want to purchase it
Bleach!
There is a powder that florists use but I don't know it's name.

I use a teaspoonful of caster sugar, that seems to work for longer than the florist's powder.
Ignore the idiot answer (Bleach) above mine...aspirin, and sugar works great. one teaspoon is usually enough sugar and one small aspirin is plenty (not flavored)
1part baking soda or 1 part vinegar to 50 parts water
Miracle Grow

Mix up a weak solution, just barely blue. Since the flowers are absorbing water while they're still alive, this provides them with nutrients and they really do stay alive longer and retain their color better. Without their roots it sounds impossible, but it really does work.

Use Miracle Grow to water your live Christmas Tree too.
Miracle Grow
Soda pop, water, and pop rocks
An aspirin and a pinch of sugar to a pint of water.
