How do I stop roller ball pens from "gumming" up?

Every roller ball pen I use seems to get clogged up and then writes poorly as you're moving it across the page, flowing well one second, then making faded looking lines the next. Any way to stop it?

Answers:
Try using plain cheap old Paper Mates, they are always juicy, but never gummy, and they last forever. They flow easily and evenly, they are a joy to write with, and never dry up.

Other answers:
Burn the tip with a lighter, that should take care of the contamination causing the gum up. If not, then it's a really cheap pen, throw it away.

Cheap pens. Use one till its done. Old ink will do this. Also, look at the paper you use. Some will be harder on the pens.
