A small rubber backed rug can be washed in a washing machine. Avoid high temperatures and overdrying in a dryer.
A large rug can be washed with a power floor washer. Drying can be accomplished by hanging over a railing or on a guy wire.
Wash it on the gentle cycle cause the agitator will beat the rubber backing to death then hang it to dry, not the dryer. I know this from experience so learn from my mistakes and don't make your own.
