Roaches breeding in dishwasher, best way to have landlord take care of it?
Answers:
1. get glue traps, sprays do not work 2. take photos 3. tell your landlord that you will sue for breach of contract, and vile living conditions. plus you need to demand that your landlord spray your entire home for roaches, you would have to find somewhere to put your pet for the day but it's unsanitary. period. if they are crawling all over your house and possibly your food and counter tops. If I were you I wouldn't care about the landlord, if he doesn't do something about it then he's a slum lord! If he says that you're a troublesome tenant just tell him you would be willing to break the lease agreement if he signs notarized papers saying you're not liable for rent for the remainder of your lease agreement and if you'll receive your deposit back. you can also report him or the company he works for to the better business bureau or the health department, tell him that...and give him COPIES of the photos...that ought to take care of your Lil' friends.

Move out.
Move out.
Move out they are never leaving, make sure not to take them with you If you see one there a thousands behind the wall.
if they are aware of the problem for more than a month and have not resolved it (exterminators tell me you can only control the problem not exterminate them!) than you can up and move anytime without punishment. Keep it in writing to protect yourself for retaliation. it's a serious health hazard.
You are Not responsible for solving the problem at all! If you do choose to bomb or buy roach sprays etc. you can deduct it from your rent. But like I said they'll always be there so move as soon as you can in the mean time do what you have to do and deduct it form the rent. Or withhold your Rent and move if the landlord hasn't gotten an exterminator.
put your complaints in writing keep a copy and keep complaining. In your rent checks state it again in the notes and if you are deducting anything copy the receipt and note n the check deducted $ for ROACHES! spray, bomb deterrent etc.
There's a nest in the building even if they "seal" holes they have many ways of getting in your place, they are still in the walls and they'll eat anything not just food they can survive on eating CEMENT!
Report him to the agency in your state responsible for regulating rental properties. If he doesn't comply with certain regulations he will be fined and/or not able to rent properties.
You definately need an exterminator. Tell the landlord that you will file a compliant if nothing is done about the problem. Then make arrangement if you and your pets need to leave.
I'm pretty sure the landlord needs to take care of the situation asap, and you have every right to complain- regularly. The problem with apartment buildings is that the roaches will move out for a time, and then come back at the slimmest opportunity. There are so many hidden, breeding that you can't even see- the problem is astronomical. It may not be worth the hassle, be glad your lease is almost over. Be very careful where you move next time.
So sorry you are going through this, take care.
