Help. There's a mouse surrounded by the house?

Last year we had a corral mouse coming into the kitchen. We found droppings first and then realised what it be.
We used a mouse trap and trapped it 'dead.' My husband did it while I be away because although I know they are pests, they are so pretty. But they can damage wires contained by your house and in the wrap up they are titled vermin after adjectives.
I know where near is one mouse there are going to be lots more.
Is in that a way of catching them alive but making sure they do not desire to come back again? Or is it a mammoth duty to do that if there are moderately a few?

Answers:    You can buy several devices which plug into your sockets and will emit ultrasonic frequencies single rodents can hear, this drives them crazy, there are also devices which distribute an electromagnetic current through cables which deter mice from nesting. Better still find a cat, although horrible creatures that kill song birds they do save mice away
its not a mouse silly - its a rat lol
