When is the best time of the year to have a garage/yard sale?

Answers:
I think the fall. It's crisp and clean out early on a Saturday morning... and serve coffee for free. It's a great conversation starter!

Other answers:
depends on what the majority of your stuff is. If its clothes for kids, the best time is now....when people start back-to-school shopping. If its other things, Id wait until September. Its somewhat cooler in most places, and theres less rain.

During spring and summer is the best time of the year to have a garage sale because it is warm and more people are out and about! But check the weather to make sure it is not too hot or humid that day so that you get more customers and you are also comfortable! Good luck with your sale!
Early summer, late spring. Right after the rainy season so you don't have to worry about rain and before it gets too hot.
When people are out, and about! In Florida, every week-end that is not in a Hurricane works for me!!
May or September
The first weekend on or after the "first of the month" should be considered. That's when people get social security checks and other government disbursements.
whenit dont rain
I've noticed that most are held in June. It's helpful for you then if you're holding one, because people are already out for all of the other ones and will stop at yours too. I hope this answer helps you!
God bless,

Points I follow

1. What have I got to sell?

2. What might the weather be like, no matter the season?

3. Weekends, usually, since a majority of the working,,,shopping public are paid on Thursday or Friday.

4. Do I have impulse items?

5. Am I charging a "fair" price for things I might discard anyway?

6. Am I desperate for cash, or just cleaning out?

7. Might I consider having electricity available to PROVE that appliances actually work?

8. Might I be so kind as to have a cooler, on a hot day, to offer bottled water, especially to those who make a decent purchase, without trying to bully me down in my asking price.

9. Am I willing to negotiate my asking price,,,based on some of the above listed factors?

10. Do I have the time to allocate?
IE: Weekends are also MY free time.
No major distractions during a possible purchase, like dog, kids, long phone calls to Gramma.
Do I have a way to dispose of any of MY treasures, that others don't find as """I GOTTA HAVE THAT""" things?

11. Finally, and with all due respect,,,are you willing to present the merchandise in a decent manner, have contingencies set up for bad weather, have enough advance notice, either by posted flyers or classified ads, and not strictly last, but as far as I wanna go,,, are you willing to be OPEN for business by 7 or 8 AM, and work at this for about 6 hours? A yard/garage/carport sale is going to be most visted Very early, by those most willing to pay for what you offer in their need or impulse, after about 2 or 3 hours you will notice a slow down perhaps, then stragglers and bargain hunters, (no offense) will show up last. By the time you've been in buisness for 4 to 6 hours, you'll know when to put up the "closed" sign, and put the leftovers out to the curb, or donate them, or re-define your asking prices.

Oh and one more issue. You may have zoning/permit restrictions with regard to "Sales" in your location?
