how do you prevent fleas from infesting your pet dog?

I have a coton de taleur who is experiencing serious problems with fleas. I have always have him on Advantage, and I have groomed him extra short with 2 flea dips to try to stop their spread. I have vaccumed extensively and laid salt down as well as steam cleaning all the carpets. I have also washed all of the bedding thoroughly. Despite my best efforts I cannot stop them from coming back. My only constrait is that I have an eleven month old son who crawls around, Please help.

Have you tried a flea collar? That's the only thing that keeps them off my dogs. You can get then at most stores that sell pet items.

What about borax powder around the baseboards behind furniture?(someplace where ur dog and son can't get into it..) and what about takin your dog to the vet and gettin him a stronger flea med? What about bombing for fleas?..If you bomd be prepared for alot of work afterwords-all the windows will have to be opened to air it out n counters n floors will have to be r e swept n moped carpets vacumed..etc..
it sound to me like your problem is not in side it is when you take you dog outside the fleas jump on him then that is why you are have a problem with them. I would recumend that you spead some stuff callled Max you it is an insect killer you can get it at walmart. follow the directions and wait for how long it says too and then do a good clean up of the house. Or get rid of the dog which it sound like you do not want to do.

you can treat your pet all day long -- but---you must always treat his environment, when doing the yard--- mow, rake, and bag it up tight or burn, --thats a must--- then treat your yard with what ever chem you choose....
i use borax sprinkled in my carpet and then vacuum up after 24 hours and also wash my dog with dawn dish detergent. It seems to help him.
