Are lp Tankless Water Heaters any good?
Answers:
I had a caldaia in Italy - a tankless water heater that also ran the radiators. As long as it was properly maintained and the weather wasn't too cold, it worked well. You had endless hot water, but if you ran too many items in the house at once (washer, shower, bath), then it didn't heat as effectively.

They are great. Everything they claim to be. The only downside is the price. It takes a long time to make the savings worth the investment.

I.m a property manager in st Thomas, VI of a condo community, and we're changing ALL our water heaters to tank less...they don't rust out and spill 6 zillion gallons of water on the floor, and only use electricity when there is a demand for hot water, not trying to keep 25 gallons hot 24/7/365.......tank less heaters work best where there isn't huge difference between incoming water temp and use.so if you're in the north and city water is 45 degrees in the winter, you may not like what comes out of the shower head.......and you cant run too many things at once...trying to shower when someones doing the dishes? Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.
We get ours from Montana General Store, and the Siebel company in Mass. Siebel has good information on rise in temperature from supply and gpm flow rates on their web site....you may also have to run thicker wires from the electrical panel to the heater to handle the current draw.
Having said all that, I'm still replacing all the heaters in my complex and my own home with tankless.
