How do you get rid of moths in kitchen and pantry using a non toxic method?

small brown moths that get in wheat containing products

Oh boy... That's tough! You can't. You need to empty your pantry of every item and clean it throughly. Including under the shelves and in the corners as well as the doors. Every inch.

Then you need to wipe your cans clean and throw away anything that came in boxes. Everything. Purchase plastic storage containers and once you bring pasta home from the store, place the boxes in big plastic storage containers.

Flour should be dumped out of it's paper into a separate plastic container. Big enough to hold a 5 pound bag. You will do the same to all sugars.

You should only have glass, cans and plastic containers in your pantry.

I had this problem for years and cleaned and cleaned constantly and could not figure out why I couldn't get rid of the buggers.

Then one day, I threw everything out and did exactly what I just wrote here.

Good luck.

I would go get some Cedar blocks that you put in sock drawers
cedar, moth balls, or a rolled up newspaper (for smashing). I've tried that 'natural' raid stuff...it doesn't work very well.
Throw away any infested items, take them right outside to the trash. Examine items that you have left. Throw away any that appear to have "spiderwebs" in them. These webs come from the moths.

When you buy new items, seal them in airtight containers: jars, tupperware, plastic zip-lock bags.

You are throwing away any larvae or adults left in the infested items. You are sealing off any food/reproduction sources for any moths left behind. Kill any moths that you see flying around your house with a flyswatter or magazine or whatever method you like.

I had this same problem about 3 months ago, and this is how I solved it.
I second the idea for cedar blocks. People (including my parents) make closets out of cedar wood so their clothing is protected without having to maintain with spray or mothballs. Plus, it will smell nice. However, if you have an existing situation, cleaning first is probably the best solution.
