What are the alternatives to a window screen?
Is there an alternative to a window screen, which would be relatively inexpensive to have? I do not want to install a window screen like such:
Is it bad to store wooden furniture and a wooden piano in a potentially hot garage?
. Maybe something that's just screen material that latches on something in the window frame and prevents the mosquitoes from coming in but won't fly away if it gets too windy.<!--q--><!--q1-->

i have the answer to your problem sitting next to me now. i know it by no other name than a half screen. they come in different lengths and heights.all the ones i have are made with wood ends and metal sides on the top and bottom. they have a metal screen in them so they are virtually pet and child proof. you just lift up your window set the half screen in place and slide the ends out. set the window back down on it and you are set. i got mine at the local hardware store. good luck. <!--a1--><!--a2-->

It sounds like you are chickening out. Stop whining. You don't need some jury-rigged flappy thing haning over your window. people will look at it and go "Eewwwww!"<br />

If your window is say, 20x 24 inches, get a piece of screen at least 2-3 inches bigger all the way around, so in this case get a piece about 24x28. This way you know you will have enough to trim. Lay the screen over the frame and press one side into the groove with that roller thingy. Then press a length of spline into the grove with the roller thingy, making sure it is all the way in. Then keeping it all straight, but not pulling on it, press the screen with the roller into the groove on the opposite side of the frame, and press in the spline with the roller. In the same way roll the screen into the last two sides and press in the last two lengths of spline. after all the splines are in nice and tight, take a sharp blade and trim off the excess. Done.<br />
