What small insect sheds its wings?

Ants and termite both....when a part of a colony gets ready to move they grow wings...then when they get to where they want to set up thier new home...they eject the wings....Hope this helps....

Sounds like swarmer termites to me. Babies that get kicked out of the nest to find new home for the others. They swarm for an hour or so, drop their wings, and ..... (depends on if you're home is protected from termites or not on what happens next).

wood is right,, but look at his answer,, "when they get to were they want to set up"! all those wings means you better call an exterminator cause they are setting up right there!!
