Why aren't the mice in my house afraid of the two cats living here?

Throw a few whole cloves behind every piece of furniture and in your closets and cabinets. If you can get under the house throw some whole cloves there and in your attic too. Mice don't like cloves and people think they smell a lot better than mice!
Some cats have just never learned to hunt. If your cats are young you can teach them. Get a cat toy mouse and tie a string to it or a shoe string or yarn and play with the cats to see if you can get them interested in chasing something. Pull something on a string or roll a ball. If someone in your house is not too grossed out to do this it will help: Tie a string to a dead mouse and pull it in front of the cats to see if they will try to get it.
Do not starve your cats but feed them only 1/2 what you usually do. (They have to have enough energy to catch something)
If you resort to poison or those sticky sheets Please be very very sure no cats or kids can get to them. Think hard on this because cats can get in very tight places.

quit feeding your cats why chase food when all i have to do is walk to the food bowl...instinct will kick in when the hunger does...or you have cats that are not mousers...good luck
Believe it or not the cats are probably too lazy to scare them away. Because you feed your cats they have no interest in hunting. Try Starving your cats for a couple of days and hey presto your mice worries will be over.
Some cats aren't hunters. I would purchase Decon rat/mice boxes of bait and put them in areas where you see droppings. A last meal may work better than a trap.
If the mice greatly outnumber the cats, or the cats are lazy, or they are just smarter than the cats, they won't leave. It is their home in their minds, you guys are the intruders. Maybe you should get more cats or an exterminator.
They probably friends and party together at night when you sleeping. What you should do is count how many Beers are in the fridge before you sleep. The next morning count again and see how many left. Usually you can put a lock on the fridge and the mice will move outside in the back yard and build a "Still".

Oh Lord I've been there! I dont know how but mice were getting into my home about 1 month ago & they just popped into the living room & walked around as if you werent even there.
I have a male cat which is spoiled as can be,but he did attempt to chase those little suckers. Mice traps were a last resort because I'm so soft hearted but one night I went into the kitchen & watched one climb into the stovetop.... thats did it for me. I got a pack of mice traps & kept them baited with Bread, not cheese. Bread works better. Anyway within 3 days I had gotten 5 mice & havent seen or heard anymore since.
Adult house cats tend to be more laid back so they dont really care about mice unless they're just in a playful mood. Dont depend on your girl cat to rid the mice. Stick with the mouse traps & if the problem is terribly bad then you may also want to get plenty of poison (put it in places that your cat wont be easily able to access, such as under the fridge). You may also want to buy some steel wool & pack any & all holes you can find in the walls & cabinets.
