Q: Birds are starting to work on peaches. Can the peaches be picked before they are ripe? How do you get them to ripen after they are picked?
A: Peaches stop ripening once they are picked. Hence the only answer is to protect the fruit from the birds. Nets are the only sure fire way to prevent this damage

To ward off birds, tie something shiny in the tree such as a disposable baking pan. The sun glinting off the metal causes distress for the birds. Unfortunately, this doesn't keep all of the birds away.

Yes, I agree. My mom ties shinny metllic ribbon all around the tree to kep the birds away. It works.
