How do I get rid of the smell of a dead mouse inside my wall without ripping out the wall?

I know where the smell is coming from, so I don't mind drilling holes to spray something in there. I guess the alternative is to wait for the bugs to eat it up and the rest to dry up. Or I could just torch the whole building.

Usually a mouse doesn't smell that bad because they are so small. However, a squirrel or a rat on the other hand... whew now that stinks. If you know where it is then cut out a hole in the drywall and repair it. Here is a link to help. www.drywallinfo.com/holerepair...

Use lots of air freshener. It'll go away by itself in a couple of months.

if you give it a week or two it will go away on its own.... in the meantime use alot of plugs-ins or air freshener or inscence......
use baking soda don't know if will get rid of complete smell but will sure cut back on the odor
If you know exactly where it's at, this is pretty simple. Remove the base trim and cut a little of the drywall out at the bottom, you can tell by the paint line how far up you can cut. Stick a coathanger or something in the hole to fish the mouse out, spray some disinfectant in the wall cavity, then simply replace the trim. If you did it right, the base trim will cover up the hole you cut out.
