live in ns canada how & what can i do to kill snakes?

have snakes and black ones,green,brown,
some were in my basement and done most i can do and now need help.there not poisons or nothing but can leave a harhish bit.

I used to have the best snake-killing dog ever. He was a terrier crossed with a beagle. He was a great dog. If you don't mind dogs get a terrier. Their original purpose was to kill snakes and rats. They are small dogs, but very energetic.
