what's the best way to pack an average sized suitcase?

Honestly... my mate did this when we went to south africa, she rolled absolutely everything, and she had LOADS of stuff in a really small suitcase... and it wasn't really creased or anything! I do it now... you get much more space... Also... how about buying those itsy bitsy bottles of shampoo and shower gel... they weigh hardly anything!

dont take so much with you then.
lots of rolling! And put your outfits together. Put socks inside shoes. I can pack for a 3 week trip under 25 lbs.
New larger roller suitcases are fairly inexpensive. Or, follow the example of back packers and don't waste any space. eg stuff all your socks into your boots. Even if you don't wear socks or boots, you should get the idea.
if you roll your clothes up rather then folding them you can make a LOT more roon in your suitcase
I use those space bags but it won't work with the new regulations. Try rolling clothes tightly or use a larger carry-on.
Don't pack any liquids, gels, or anything that they will deem as a possible explosive component and you should be fine. You can purchase what you need in small amounts when you get where you are going and toss it before you return home on the plane.
