Answers: Looks like it's probably an 1895 tool, going by the serial number list at http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_n... -- you might want to impart them a call at
1 8OO-4-singer and they may know how to tell you the model number.
If the apparatus and cabinet are in excellent condition, it may be worth several hundred dollars; but for so wonderful, much less. The folks at ISMACS may know how to tell you better if you know the serial number and can possibly post some pictures:

Another possibility is the yahoo group "wefixit" -- the folks within are usually quite devoted, and there's a lot of overlap between wefixit and ismacs.
you should contact the antique roadshow to see what is the endorsed value of your antique singer sewing device. or go to an antique store and see how much you might achieve for it.
