what's some good advice about moving to another state?

anything from the day u start packing to prearranging service in the new state, etc.

Answers:
If this is a life changing move, and starting over ,do it right..pack as little as possible ..say goodbye to all your belongings and start fresh with maybe one suitcase in hand.
Nothing ever goes as you plan anyways, but if you want your life just as it is now..then take everything with you..and it won't make a difference where you live ,you won't even feel like you have moved until you hit the highways and see different surroundings.
Besides it is more fun to start fresh and new and leave the old behind.
I did it after living in New York State for most of my adult life, and believe me , after a while you will have more "junk" than you will need ,except it will be new junk .
Think of how much fun it will be to go shopping for new things.
What to do with the old stuff ? give it away ..make trips to amvets, goodwill,or give it to some charity ,or family members..(most probably don't want your stuff anyways ,,they probably have enough of their own)..
For me I moved to Colorado and starting living my life, and working to live ,not living to work.
Good luck with the move and "Shopping"..:)
First think I did though when I arrived is :
1. Get a drivers license in the state..I was shocked they took my New York drivers licensed and shredded it..just like that !
2. Get good tax advice ,for the first year you will probably have to pay taxes for the first year in two different states.
3. Everything else is pretty much like as if you would move in your old state to another location.
oh yeah get used to people wondering where you are from if the state you are moving to ,has people who speak with a different accent.

3. visit the school board website.

4. visit the websites, or talk with, the realtors of the area.

5. If you are part of a church, check with the sister church there, for a welcoming 'hello'!
