my jacuzzi pool pump won't stay primed what is the reason?

Answers:
Is it not staying primed while running? Or is it loosing prime while off? Makes a big difference in trying to run the problem down. When off the filter system is under a vacuum. Any tiny air leak will let air in, and water out back to the pool. Usually this is caused by an "o" ring that seals under pressure but not under vacuum. See any drips at the filter plumbing when it's running? If so, that's your problem. You can turn the system off. Give it a few minutes and then very carefully listen to all the areas that might be leaking. Sometimes you can hear the air being sucked in. Takes a bit of patience, but you can find the problem. Now if the thing is loosing prime while running then that's another matter altogether. If that's the case there is only two things you can do yourself. Make sure the water level is up high enough. And check the skimmer weir (the little door inside the skimmer throat>) Sometimes they stick shut. This lets the pump suck all the water out of the skimmer. It looses prime, meanwhile the skimmer is refilling. And the process repeats. Other than those two, call a pool tech.

You need to check the seals and o-rings of all the hoses and all the valves. PUmps don't stay primed because air is leaking in somewhere.

If one of the o-rings or seals is dried, rotted, or cracked it is enough to let air in.

Is it one of the Magnums or Magnum Forces? If so, I would guess that maybe one of your seals is not tight, on either the glass window on the pump, one of the plugs on the sides of the pump, or the ring inside of your filter lid. You might need to get a new plastic ring if yours is broken/missing.
