What do you need to do with a pointsetta in order to get the leaves to turn red in time for the holidays?

I have a pointsetta from last year. It is beautiful and big. I'd like it to turn red, but I'm unsure of how to do that.

Answers:
REFLOWERING A POINSETTIA
Poinsettia plants can be brought back into flower next year, although this procedure is somewhat demanding. Poinsettia is a short-day plant, which means it needs a continuous long dark period each night to form its colorful bracts. Starting the first week of October (for an eight- to 10-week period) the plant must be kept in total darkness for 14 continuous hours each night. Keep the plant in darkness by moving it to a closet or covering it with a large box. During this period, the plant must also receive six to eight hours of bright sunlight daily. Depending on the response time of the particular cultivar, the plant will come into full bloom during November or December.

do a search on growing them, it is very difficult to make them turn red at the correct time of the year

I have 3 poinsettias that are 3 years old. I haven't done anything to them except give them water and sunshine and they turn red by themselves. The red leaves aren't huge like they were originally, but they really look nice. I've heard that they need to be kept in a dark cool place for a few months (watered, of course) and brought back out a few weeks befor you want them to turn red again. Good luck.
Pointsettia works according to the amount of day it gets. Shorter the days, redder it gets.

So, simulate that by keeping it in the absolute dark and in a cool dry place lot longer and expose it to sun only for 5 hours a day. You will be amazed. You can get red leaves even in summer..........!

It is a lot of work but it is done.
i wanna say you need to cut the light gradually , Greenhouse staff ensures that day and night temperatures average 72 degrees to promote proper growth and maturity. Lighting, temperature, water, and fertilizer must be carefully regulated to ensure the plants are in full color for the holiday season. Proper root development indicates the general health of the plant. Each plant is given ample space to mature on the greenhouse tables. Growth of the plants is closely monitored with fertilizer and water applied according to the plants growth through it's own drip feeding tube.
I have heard that if you put them in a dark closet for a couple weeks right before the holidays that is supposed to work maybe try 3 weeks.
