How do I get rid of gnats in my kitchen?

I have no food out and I consider myself and my family fairly clean I have scrubbed my entire kitchen and they are still here.

Answers:
Try putting a pop bottle (it must be a narrow necked bottle) with a bit of juice in the bottom out in the kitchen in a place that's not in the way. They will go into the bottle to get to the juice and then because of the neck of the botlle not be able to get back out. That should take care of them in a few days. Also, the garbage disposal, dishwasher, garbage, all need to be covered somehow... a flat bath tub stopper will work for the disposal. Best wishes

Other answers:
Fruit flys even love the garbage or a disposer...
they are immune to the cold in your refridgerator...

those three places may harbor old fruit.

Make sure you eliminate any standing water. Sometimes these bugs hang around the sink area--especially if you clean a lot or use a sponge. Try getting a covered garbage can--that can help, too!
I would make sure there are not any plants in the house.
Keep the doors closed. Also at night, leave the porch lights off. This attachs them and when you open the door they fly in.
Pour vinegar down your sink drain so that it remains in the trap. Worked for me.
either turn off all the lights in your house and one outside or spray there wings and sweep them out of your house
Get a sundew or two (Drosera species) and put it in your kitchen window. They'll eat the gnats fairly quickly, and they're fun to watch, too. Check your local nursery, the ones at Lowe's are usually a little sad looking.
