i found one in my hotel room in a not so unknown amusement park hotel in Orlando
it was 3.5 inches long and it crawled out into the middle of the bathroom floor while i was in the shower.... i caught it and dumped it on the hotel front desk.... demanding a refund for my $450 per night room....
" We just cant do that" said the manager of this swank upper class hotel " after all " he said ; " it's just a Palmetto bug "
i packed my bags and left....... id rather deal with mosquitoes lol

Eddie you shirtless moron.
Palmetto Bugs get to be like 5 inches long. Trust a Floridian. You don't want one of these beyatches coming at your head after midnight!!
Luckily I have not enountered one since living in the piss poor University of South Florida dorms years ago.
I'd rather face a rabid vampire bat with a hardon.
That was me who answered that question.
The Palmetto Bug is a species of cockroach, but larger than your average roach. The one's you described may be Palmetto Bugs..... EEEEEWWWW
Totally creep me out.
Palmetto Bugs are American Cockroaches. They thrive outside in damp, dark area like mulch, etc. They also like the attic area if there is a leak.
They will sometimes get inside a home, but will die from dehydration with 48 hours if they can not find a water source. They can and do fly also. If you try to hit one, you better hit it our it may end up in your hair!
No regular inside pest control will help much. You need to concentrate on the outside areas they live in.
What are they? Simply stated, a Cockroach. But not your ordinary run of the mill cockroach. No, they are nothing like the cute little creepy crawlies you see in Orkin commercials.
For one thing, Palmetto Bugs tend to be a bit larger then your average roach. I'm not kidding when I say that I have seen them grow to three inches or more. You may think cockroaches are gross, but the experience is much more vivid when all the gory details are magnified. As if that wasn't enough, Palmetto Bugs can fly! Yes, fly. You have never been creeped out, until you see a three inch roach fly up and land on the table next to you. And it gets worse, Palmetto Bugs aren't afraid of the light. You're just as likely to encounter one during the day as at night. The last little detail to distinguish the Palmetto Bug from your average cockroach is that they are armored. Step on one and you're lucky if you get its attention. You don't even get the pleasure of squishing one.
