apartments are for rent, condos are for sale. sometimes people advertise condos for rent, though. flat is another word for a studio apartment (one room), and I think a loft is usually a studio apartment on the top floor. they are mainly just fancy words for the same thing to make it sound better on paper.
Apartment - A self-contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building.
Condo - a form of housing tenure. It is the legal term used in the United States and in most provinces of Canada for a type of joint ownership of real property in which portions of the property are commonly owned and other portions are individually owned.
Loft - large single room apartment on the top floor of the building. Denotes a 'commercial' or 'unfinished' quality to the space.
Flat - English term for an apartment.

Studio - A single room apartment, similar to a loft but no always on the top floor.
