can i shave about 4 inches off the trunk side of an texas umbrella tree w/o great damage and killing branches?

i would like to put new fenceing behind my four wonderful texas umbrella tree. i cant move fencing line forward due to property lines. two of the trees are already over line. to keep the correct property line straight as possible i need to know if i can shave the back of the trees without damaging the growth process of the tress or killing off branches that are leaning off amoung the side of the tree. the trunk is about 4 feet in height before the main branches give out. the height of the tress are some where between 20-25 feet. thank you so much!

Answers:
You mean shave off the trunk itself? No. It will leave the tree open to diseases and fungus and will most likely kill it.
