Why do cockroaches run toward people?

They run for the nearest cover to avoid attackers, and they may erroneously perceive that shelter to be the person (who they see as a skyscraper-sized object) who disturbed them.

Roachs don't run to people. They run for cover. I'll bet there heading for a safe spot under your shoe. They can squeeze there bodies into very tight placed. Especially when threatened.
