Answers:    Wow...yes that is. We have this same issue in an apartment we rented contained by NY. Here is what we did:
1. We took pictures as you have done.
2. We call the Health Department.
The health department give the guy 30 days to clean it up and/or they be going to close it down. In the meanwhile, the landlord have to give us another apartment to stay within.
3. We contacted a lawyer. They help us to get out of our lease. You can also contact the renters association for attorney services or legal aide.
4. Document: adjectives discussions you have have with the manager, pictures (again), emails, etc. Have that ready to budge.
5. Find another place to stay in the interim.

Important to file: mold is going to grow where nearby is moisture. Moisture directly on contact as well as within the room itself: when the moisture evaporates, it goes into the upper air and then condensation cause it to land elsewhere...check the bottom of your carpets- specifically where ours be as well. We have no idea until the form department stepped in and pulled the rugs up surrounded by our room and in our son's room.

I immediately have asthma: probably from this experience. It's not surrounded by our family at adjectives. It just showed up. Our son have constant ear infections, we had colds, sinus infections from the constant nasal infections. I also have a ton and I do mean a ton of yeast infections. It be really bad near though...the underside of the carpet wipe was covered within black mold.

DO NOT CLEAN IT YOURSELF! It will become airborne. It must be done by a professional when you are not there.

Good luck. You guys involve to get out: NOW.

Edit: my husband needed me to add this: We be not able to bring our mattress from our moldy apartment with us- it be against the wall as we cosleep (our son was 1.5 years of age) and the mold go to the sides of our mattress and boxspring...both had to be discarded after we moved. That be expensive.

2 thumbs down??? My gosh...we had this same experience. If in attendance is mildew, you can bet there is mold. What she have in the pictures: mold. It is NOT THE FAULT of the renter...how so??? There is a overflow someplace and moisture is getting in. It is the landlords charge to clean it. I can promise you that if you verbs it with bleach, it is going to come right rear...been in that and done that.

Contact Legal Aide- now.

Edit: Quote from the 80's kid: I'm the property organizer for a few rental apartments, and just similar to you, some of these people devise that everything under the roof is the owners knock, and the owners problem. *End quote

*this is from what I googled. Google tenants rights and proprietor liability on mold and see what comes up for your area. Start documenting.

Please, please find another place to stay- do not put in the picture the landlord anything in the region of calling the health department. Get the EPA contained by there as in good health.

Finally, I am very worried in the region of you guys, you have little ones that cannot affray the mold as readily as you can. Please take fastidiousness and know you are in my thoughts.
You want to get out of near ASAP; I'm no pro but I know that mold can be toxic and you need to take both yourselves and your house out. There has to be some officially recognized action you can give somebody a lift.
