WOW THIS IS A GREAT QUESTION, I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO GIVE MY OPINION ON. SO HERE IT IS: IF MY WIFE WANTS TO USE THE TOILET SHE PUTS THE SEAT DOWN. ON THE OTHER HAND IF I NEED TO USE IT I LIFT THE SEAT IN CONSIDERATION FOR HER. I DON'T, HOWEVER, PUT IT BACK DOWN. IT'S A 50/50 SITUATION. I HAVE THE CONSIDERATION TO LIFT IT, AND SHE HAS THE STRENGTH TO PUT IT DOWN. I HAVE FOUND THAT THOSE WOMEN WHO EXPECT YOU TO PUT IT BACK DOWN, ARE SELFISH CONTROL FREAKS, THAT I CHOSE NOT TO HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH BASED SOLEY ON THE TOILET SEAT THEORY OF MINE.

The toilet seat and toilet is common property and each person should expect to adjust it according to his or hers need. Much the same as the seat in an Auto that is shared, up some for the woman and back some for the man-

The toilet should be closed, lid down, when not in use. The seat will necessarily be down as well when you enter the room where the toilet resides. Lift the lid and position the seat as needed for your particular visit. Remember to flush, then close the lid when you're done.

I don't have that problem I have an outhouse. So it just has a hole, do need to watch out for splinters.
