Make sure that you get a reputable builder, someone you can trust, ask your friends if they have dealt with any. You can also get recomendations for builders from building supplies shops. Make sure that your plans are ok'ed buy your municipality or the relavent group, if it is not a "legal" building it can be torn down. The cheapest is not always the best choice, very often quite a bad choice. Try organise that the majority of the payment gets paid on completion of the job, try get a contract drawn with specific quality specifications.
